Queensland
The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House the totally unacceptable lenient sentences being handed down in
respect of crimes of violence especially against the young, the elderly
and the defenceless.
Your petitioners therefore request the House to amend existing laws to
establish a system of minimum sentencing of those found guilty of crimes
of violence so that persons found guilty of these offences pay a
reasonable penalty for their crimes.
