To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of
Queensland.

The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House that the percentage of beverage containers being recycled in the
State of Queensland is much lower than in the State of South Australia.

Your petitioners therefore request the Assembly to remedy the situation
by introducing container deposit legislation, using the guidelines of
that of South Australia and overseas examples, and that a refundable
deposit of ten cents be implemented, as recommended by the recent Review
of Container Deposit Legislation in New South Wales.
