Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the unreliability of many of Translink’s Gold Coast public bus services caused by unrealistic timetables. Scheduled timetables cannot be met by bus drivers adhering to the law, resulting in frustration and anger amongst commuters, often left waiting without transport. The inadequate running and turnaround times on the drivers’ running sheets puts unlawful pressure on the drivers to compromise the safety of road-users, passengers, pedestrians as well as their own personal mental and physical health, safety, liability and workplace rights.Your petitioners therefore request the House to address the issues of poor timetabling and driver turnaround time in order to run an efficient and reliable bus service for Gold Coast residents and commuters as a matter of urgency. As well, they ask that the House ensures working conditions which conform to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and guidelines.
