To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of
Queensland.

The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House concerns regarding the management of the Gladstone Area Water Board
particularly during the recent extension the capacity of the Awoonga Dam,
in particular – that prior to construction, significant quantities of
water were drained from the dam; that significant evaporation occurs in
the transfer of water from the Awoonga Dam storage to Callide Dam; And
notes that – Government and GAWB propose to construct approx 14 klms of
additional pipeline to Callide Dam; while Gladstone City and Calliope
Shire residents were required to restrict water consumption to 6,000 lts
per week, Biloela residents, whose potable water supply is sourced from
Callide Dam (and therefore Awoonga Dam) were not on such onerous
restrictions.

Your petitioners request the House to require the management of the
Gladstone Area Water Board in conjunction with the Queensland Government
to – plan and construct, as a matter of urgency the remaining pipeline to
Callide Dam to ensure no loss of water in the transfer.
