Install traffic signals at dangerous Beerwah intersection (Old Gympie Road/Peachester Road)
Eligibility - Queensland residents64 Carnarvon Drive
BEERWAH QLD 4519
Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the notorious intersection at the corner of Beerwah State School, Old Gympie Road and Peachester Road which is: extremely unsafe for school children to attempt to cross during school hours therefore they’re unable or to walk or ride their bikes to school; dangerous for local residents to attempt to cross; and unsafe for motorists who use this stretch daily. This particular stretch of road is one of the busiest in the Beerwah community as it links residents from hinterland townships, such as Peachester, to Beerwah and through Beerwah to access the Steve Irwin Way.
Your petitioners therefore request the House to request the Department of Transport and Main Roads to review this intersection immediately; install traffic signals at the intersection of Old Gympie Road/Peachester Road that includes a school pedestrian crossing; and to upgrade the intersection to cater for increased traffic.
