Remove the State requirement for Tablelands Regional Council to impose inaccurate overlays as part of the Planning Scheme

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House extreme levels of inaccuracies contained in State provided or mandated overlays contained with the draft Planning Scheme undergoing public consultation for the Tablelands Regional Council. The level of inaccuracy is extraordinary. Flood overlays are so incorrect as to be a nonsense, bio-diversity overlays are flawed. Landslip overlays have little, if any, connection to on-the-ground reality and bushfire overlays do not match real world risk. The impact and implications on private properties are far too serious to be left as guesstimates. Implications include the prospect of Development Approval Application processes being required where none should be and the discouragement of investment and development in this prime agricultural area.
Your petitioners therefore request the House to remove the State requirement for Tablelands Regional Council to impose these overlays as part of the Planning Scheme until and unless the overlays accurately reflect the real situation; supported by objective, comprehensive data derived from professional studies.
