Bus services in Broadwater
Eligibility - Electors of the Division of Broadwater403/300 Marine Parade
LABRADOR QLD 4215
The petition of Electors of the Division of Broadwater draws to the attention of the House the recent changes to bus services in the Division. Since these changes have taken effect, residents are no longer able to catch buses from Paradise Point, Runaway Bay or Labrador that directly service southern suburbs such as Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach. Residents are not even able to catch a bus to the Broadwater, for which the Division is named. Instead, residents have to change buses one or more times, or swap to the light rail, to complete their journey. These changes have doubled the length of some journeys for residents whose only method of transport is via public transport. In addition to this, connecting services from Southport to the northern suburbs have reduced their operating hours. In conjunction with the longer travel time, this leaves residents of Broadwater stranded without a method to travel.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to reinstate bus routes which travel from Labrador, Paradise Point and Runaway Bay directly into southern suburbs that the light rail will service. In addition, petitioners further request the House to lengthen the operating hours on the timetable of these bus routes for residents of the Division of Broadwater
