Road safety improvements for Upfield Street and Mount Cotton Road
Eligibility - Queensland residents39 Upfield Street
BURBANK QLD 4156
The petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the House to road hazards at two Upfield Street/Mount Cotton Road intersections. In Upfield Street there are a number of families (with young children) and a small business (retail outlet), along with the Czechoslavakian Club which boasts hundreds of members. It is very dangerous turning right (outbound) into Upfield Street, as there is very little overtaking room for through traffic. Mount Cotton Road has become increasingly busy over the recent years as it is a major thoroughfare servicing the Redlands-Brisbane commute for both residents and businesses alike. Many accidents, and 'close calls' take place very year irrespective of TMR's records.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to undertake measures in improving the safety for outbound vehicles turning right into Upfield Street and through on Mount Cotton Road. Alike to the measures undertaken in Moxon, Daymar and Oakridge Streets, in which Upfield Street boasts a higher traffic rate because of the residents, retail business and clubs situated there.
