The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the
attention of the House that the uncompleted Caboolture ByPass is having a
detrimental affect on the residents of Caboolture East. The residents of
Caboolture East including those working and living at the Regis Nursing
Home, children attending St Columbans, Caboolture East State, Caboolture
State High, St Peter’s schools as well as ABC Child Care Centre and
workers and users of Caboolture Hospital are suffering under an increase
of both heavy and standard traffic volume through Caboolture East. This
is due to the non-completion of the Caboolture Bypass. An increase in
traffic volume heightens the potential for accidents and the risk of
injury to the local community – especially children. The majority of
traffic from the uncompleted bypass use residential roads in Caboolture
East. This has led to traffic congestion along McKean Street, Beerburrum
Road and surrounding areas.

Your petitioners therefore request the House that the State Government
immediately expedite funding and other necessary procedures to ensure the
completion of the Bypass in 2004.
