Paper Petition

The petition of electors of the Division of Mulgrave draws to the
attention of the House to the inadequacy of public bus services in the
southern suburbs of Cairns.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to direct the Department of
Transport to undertake a review of bus routes, service times, frequency
of service and the provision of disability accessible buses in the
Southern Suburbs of Cairns giving particular attention to: (1) the
establishment of new routes to unserviced areas such as Forest Gardens,
lower White Rock, East Edmonton, Timberlea, Centenary Heights and
Hambledon Gardens and (2) the provision of an express bus service from
Gordonvale to the City picking up along the Bruce Highway.
