The petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House the application from Mooloolaba Tavern Pty Ltd for a detached
bottle shop and extended hours permit situated at the corner of Moondara
Drive and Nicklin Way, Wurtulla.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to refuse this application
on the following grounds. 1. There are already sufficient bottle shops
and licensed premises in the locality to meet the reasonable requirements
of the public in the locality for the availability of takeaway liquor. 2.
The proposed bottle shop is located in close proximity to sensitive
community facilities (such as community park, bus stop, 3 retirement
villages and nearby primary and secondary schools). 3. There are strong
objections from residents of the surrounding locality regarding the
communities need for a bottle shop in the proposed location. In respect
to the component of the application that deals with the application for
an extended hours permit between 8.00 am and 12 midnight Monday to
Sunday, as it considers. 1. The normal trading hours between 10.00 am and
10.00 pm, provide sufficient timeframe for the availability of takeaway
liquor sales to cater for the recreational needs of the community. 2.
There is public concern that the proposed extension of operating hours
between 8.00 am and 12 midnight will create an annoyance, negative
influence and/or disturbance to persons who reside in the locality.
