TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House the concerns of the dealings by the State Government with the
property known as Tripcony/Hibiscus Caravan Park site and located at the
corner Park Place, Bowman Road and Bulcock Street, Caloundra. Of
particular concern is: the direction from the minister for Local
Government and Planning to Caloundra City Council in relation to the
draft Caloundra City Plan; advice from the State Government and the
possibility of the property being given freehold status.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to: not approve the request
to Freehold the said property in anyway, shape or form; take all
appropriate steps to change the ministerial direction upon Caloundra City
Council’s Draft City Plan and formulate a new ministerial directive in
conjunction with Caloundra residents, Caloundra City Council and the
State Government to develop a united strategic direction for the future
of the site; take all appropriate steps to return the said property back
under the trusteeship of Caloundra City Council; not allow any
commercial, state, local or public interest being able to convert the
property to Freehold land, now or in the future.
