The Petition of the Citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House. Re: Boating Safety, South-East of Queensland from the Tweed River
(Queensland-New South Wales Border) to Bundaberg. There is public concern
for Boating Safety in the South-East in the South-East Queensland area At
present the charts for this area are not available to companies such as C-
Map and others who require these to produce exact electronic charts. C-
Map have been in discussions with the Department of Transport Queensland
to access their chart data since 2001 but to date they have been
unsuccessful in obtaining a licence to use the Department of Transport
Queensland's chart data. Therefore, the boating public are being put at
the risk of death or injury every time they venture onto the water.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to release the current
charts of the coastline and sea channels for South-East Queensland from
the Tweed River (Queensland-New South Wales border) to Bundaberg as soon
as possible so as not to endanger persons or property.
