TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the
attention of the House the safety problems created by not having a
suitable school speed zone on Moggill Road in the vicinity of the Moggill
State School. The Department of Main Roads is insisting that 60 km/h is
used in other parts of Queensland and is refusing to consider the local
circumstances in Moggill. There is no convenient place for parents to
dropping of or picking up children and the lack of a footpath and rough
ground on the other side of Moggill Road also discouraged use of the
pedestrian lights.

The petitioners therefore request the House to immediately reduce the
speed limit on the state-controlled section of Moggill Road in the
vicinity of the Moggill State School to 40 km/h, the same speed as
adjacent council school zones.
