Control of fire risks and invasive animal and plant pests in Queensland national parks, state forests and other Queensland crown lands

Queensland residents draw to the attention of the House the inadequacy of resources devoted to the control of bushfire risks (such as reducing fuel loads, and the maintenance of fire access trails and fire breaks), and the control of invasive animal and plant pest species (baiting, removal, and proper fencing), in Queensland national parks, state forests and other crown land areas. Private landholders, whose lands adjoin or are near to these areas, suffer from increased fire risks and pest species attacks as a result of inadequate management and fencing of state lands.
Your petitioners therefore request the House to provide, in consultation with local communities, increased resourcing for the management of Queensland national parks, state forests and other crown lands, with respect to fuel load reduction, fire access trails, fire brakes, common boundary fencing, and pest species containment, control and eradication.
