Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the Chief Executive Department of State Development Manufacturing Infrastructure and Planning (Department) appears to operate in conflict with the Queensland Government and Queensland Local Government’s policies and guidelines in relation to the environment. The department lacks the impartiality required of a government department by being a hostile co-respondent against the Ipswich City Council, and therefore against the wishes of the residents of Queensland in the Landfill Court cases where the department has supported all three Landfill companies, even though the state government policy is to reduce waste, reduce landfills and progress towards zero waste. The department is supporting these private companies, even though they have breached their permits and have EPO’s issued against them for serious damage to the environment. Queensland Taxpayers should not be funding a government department to support private companies in court cases against Local Governments, and Queensland residents.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call for a full parliamentary enquiry in relation to Chief Executive of the Department of State Development Manufacturing Infrastructure and Planning supporting private waste companies against local councils.
