Government and MP’s must declare all social media pages they operate or are operated by staff

Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that many “local community” social media pages are run by the government and by or out of the local MP’s office. These community pages are mostly not bona-fide community pages but one-sided platforms used for the promotion of the political agenda of the government or the MP under the guise of being a local community page. These pages are being managed by staff working for the Queensland Parliament, which means that they are operated using public funds.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call upon the Parliament to make a public registrar of all social media sites, excluding private personal sites, operated by elected officials and government staff, including a full list of “closed group” sites which are being run from electorate offices, by members of parliament and by the state government.
