TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of electors of the Division of Townsville and residents of
South Townsville draws to the attention of the House the problems of
heavy vehicle traffic through the residential streets of South Townsville
including McIllwraith and Davidson Streets through all hours of the day
and night seven days a week. The speed, noise of engines and brakes
results in the destruction of resident's amenity.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to

1. Compel the Townsville Port Authority to provide only one entry and
exit point to the port, the Boundary Street Benwell Road entry. This
would not only assist residential amenity but also assist in port
security.

2. That the port access road be supported and built as a matter of
urgency by the State Government.
