Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the lack of dialysis services at the Mareeba Hospital is having significant impacts on patients and their families, and is placing an unnecessary burden on vulnerable members of our community. Elderly patients have expressed the severe emotional distress being placed on them in having to travel to receive these services, the difficulties associated with this travel, and the impacts this has had on their health. This situation could be resolved by offering this critical service at the Mareeba Hospital.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to enable kidney dialysis services to be accessed at the Mareeba public hospital without delay.
