Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the large number of Queenslanders that are facing homelessness and/or are homeless. There are a number of factors causing this problem; interest rates increasing, thus causing rents to increase; as well as the number of people moving to Queensland from other states. It is also due to the lack of construction of public housing.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to take some action to help a large number of Queenslanders to find suitable accommodation, including working with local councils to search for housing that is sitting empty and where they can pay a small set fee for rent.
