TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The Petition of electors of the Division of Charters Towers draw the
attention of the House to the need for a Patient Travel Subsidy rebate
increase from 10c/kilometre to 20c/kilometre, and the need for private
practice or bulk billing GP's to have authority to sign the Patient
Travel Subsidy Scheme Application Form which is required to lodge for the
claim of such rebates. At present there is too much red tape and
complication surrounding the procedures involved. These changes will be
of great benefit to the elderly, disabled and infirm.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to review current rebate
figures and to also review the process of authorising Patient Travel
Subsidy Scheme Application Forms.
