TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that the ABC recently aired two programs on the issues with EVs, including that privately owned EVs spend on average, 10 to 12 hours overnight on charge using electricity from the grid. They are contributing 70 to 80 hours of coal fired emissions into the environment every week just to get people to work and back. More extensive trips require even more charging and using high-capacity chargers just makes the situation worse. Compared to fuel driven vehicles which travel an average of an hour per day getting people to work and back, which are putting 7 or so hours per week of well controlled fuel emissions into the environment each week. 70 to 80 hours per week as compared to 7 hours per week. Anyone who cares about the environment would not drive an EV.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to ban EVs from our roads unless the owner can demonstrate that they are charged from a source other than the electricity grid.
