TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House to:

• Narrow sections and poor condition of the Mitchell St George Road from 8 kilometres to 25 kilometres south of Mitchell

• The dangerous narrow road sections which are well elevated above the table drain with sharply sloped shoulders that are not traversable

• The slippery black soil road material used for the building up of the shoulders that becomes dangerous when wet

• The extensive use of the road for the movement of livestock from central Queensland to northern New South Wales to access the cross-loading facility west of St George

• Lack of a safety warnings on the narrow fourteen-mile creek crossing

• Narrow not fit for purpose timber bridge on the Womalilla Creek

• Increasing volumes of traffic and heavy vehicle movements

• The lack of funding spent on widening the Mitchell St George Road in the last seven years.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within their power to:

• Widen the narrow road sections south of Mitchell to an 8 metre seal

• Redesign and remediate the sharply elevated shoulders that are not traversable

• Install safety traffic warnings on the 14 mile creek crossing

• Replace the timber Womalilla Bridge

• Use more appropriate gravel material for the road shoulders rather than slippery black soil.
