The Petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House the need for an Ambulance Station at Glenwood. Glenwood is located
approximately half way between Gympie and Maryborough and as such waiting
times for an ambulance can be lengthy, particularly if there is a major
accident where ambulances have been called from both areas. Delays in the
provision of emergency services such as this can easily be the difference
between life and death and as such the public concern is considerable.
Land (which currently houses the Fire Station) was purchased some years
ago by the Bureau of Emergencies for this purpose and there is more than
enough room to accommodate the Fire Station, an Ambulance Station and the
S.E.S., which is currently situated in a temporary shed.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to consider and approve the
installation of an Ambulance Station in Glenwood on the site of the Fire
Station as soon as possible so as not to endanger the lives of any
persons in the area.
