Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House The government has recently made movements towards paying students for their clinical placements in order to ease financial stress. Physiotherapists and occupational therapists have not been included in this funding despite having equal or larger hours of clinical placement than student groups receiving support. In some instances they are required to commute and stay in rural areas for placements removing all ability to earn an income during this time. With the growing cost of living and rental crisis these terms are resulting in a greater drop out rate or students unable to complete placements due to not being able to support themselves.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to We therefore ask the House to include physiotherapy and occupational therapy students in the new grant scheme by the government, and pay these students for clinical placements in order to provide relief.
