TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The Petition of the undersigned citizens of Queensland draws to the
attention of the House the fact that the proposed sale of Crown Land in
Brolga Close, Kewarra Beach, should not proceed and the land should be
retained for a primary school.

Member for Barron River, Lesley Clark, has insinuated the above land be
sold for further development. But this will leave no land for our
children and future children to attend school.

Trinity Beach Primary already has 650 pupils. Most of the day cares on
the Northern Beaches have reached a total of over 625 children attending
and over 400 children on waitlists. These figures do not include
pregnancies or children who are not attending.

Lesley Clark says we can choose Caravonica or Redlynch (600 children)
and, if working, can drop the children there on our way to school. But
this does not help families with no transport or who live on one income
facing soaring fuel & transport prices.

On the Caims City Council Web Site www.cairns.qld.gov.au it states that
Kewarra Beach is a growth area and has a higher than average young family
occupancy. There are already four Estate Developments in progress.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to ensure the land is not
sold for development,
but is retained for use for a primary school.
