TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The Petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the
attention of the House:

• the lack of speech therapy services available at the Mount Warren Park
Special Education Development Unit (SEDU) and other SEDU's throughout
Queensland – for several terms this year children receive no speech
therapy at all;
• the urgent need for increased funding for this and other SEDU’s;
• the vital role these Units play in assisting children with special
needs and how very important the ability to communicate is for these
children.

The petitioners therefore request the House ensure that funding is
immediately increased to ensure ongoing regular speech therapy is
provided for all students at Mt Warren Park SEDU as a matter of urgency,
and that this may be extended to all SEDU's throughout Queensland.
