The petition of the citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House the decision to partially entomb and partially relocate the
Heritage listed Sandstone abutments of the Heiner Road Bridge, Heiner
Road, North Ipswich. The abutments formed part of the first road over
railway crossing to be built in Queensland and we therefore believe that
they need to be protected and valued as a significant piece of
Australia’s heritage.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to overturn this decision
and allow the abutments to remain in situ, in their entirety, without
being entombed.
