The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House that there are no shaded car parks m the Department of Housing
units situated at May Hooper Lodge 6 West Terrace Caloundra on the
Sunshine Coast.

This unit complex is solely for elderly residents with disabilities who
are required to travel to and from hospitals and dentists and elsewhere
on the Sunshine Coast for appointments. These elderly residents are
required to get into extremely hot motor vehicles in summer and if it
rains they are saturated by the time they get into their vehicles. The
residents provide a transport system that would otherwise have to be
provided by the Queensland Ambulance Service.

Your petitioners therefore request the Government provide shaded car
parks for May Hooper Lodge residents.
