TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the Innisfail area draws to the attention of
the House that pedestrian zebra crossings in conjunction with traffic
lights be constructed on Ernest Street from the corner in front of
Curtain Villa to the corner in front of the Crown Hotel to allow the
public to cross from one side of the street to the other safely.
Unfortunate accidents with pedestrians have occurred of late so we feel
the installation of a pedestrian crossing in this area is of necessity
for the general public safety. This area is an increasing traffic area
with the development of Kmart and the expansion of McDonalds Family
Restaurant.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to ask the Honourable
Minister for Main Roads to take the necessary action to have suitable
pedestrian crossing installed so as to ensure that pedestrians crossing
Ernest Street cross in a safe manner.
