TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the
attention of the House that signalled pedestrian crossings on major roads
near primary schools are very dangerous. Vehicles do not always stop at
red traffic signals and signals do not always work properly. Young
children do have trouble judging speed, do not always concentrate and are
oblivious to the real dangers of motor vehicles.

In the State of Queensland there is no provision for School Crossing
Supervisors (Crossing Guards) to attend signalled pedestrian crossings.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to make available state
crossing supervisors for signalled pedestrian crossings on major roads
near primary schools.
