TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The alarming recommendations of the Crime and Misconduct Commission’s
report entitled "Regulating Adult Entertainment: A review of the live
adult entertainment industry in Queensland". Some of these
recommendations, if adopted, will further erode community values and
expand and normalise the activities of the exploitive and regarding "sex
industry".

I therefore request the House to reject any recommendations within the
report which expands the scope of this industry through legalisation of
illegal activities, including:

• Recommendation 7, which proposes the establishment of Adult
Entertainment Licence Special Permit 1, legalising acts involving graphic
full nudity including self-penetration and lesbian/group simulated sex
acts.
• Recommendations 12, 15 and 26, which weaken the regime of probity
checks and criteria for suitability of persons to hold an Adult
Entertainment Licence.
• Recommendation 18, which permits a holder of Adult Entertainment
Licence Special Permit 2 to provide 'noncontact dating' services to
clients, creating a potential front for the provision of prostitution in
an illegal manner.

Furthermore I request the House to endorse recommendations from the
report which protect minors and the community through enhanced
regulation, enforcement and penalties.
