The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the
attention of the House the removal of some of the asbestos products left
at Birkdale State School, in the electorate of Cleveland (Darryl
Briskey). The internal roof is being replaced after tests showed that
powder in the room was asbestos. Meanwhile the external roof which also
has asbestos in it is being left. Both have asbestos in them and need
replacing. The block is then going to be thoroughly cleaned.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to replace the external roof
at the same time, this would save on the cost of cleaning the building
again once the external roof is replaced at some undisclosed time in the
future. It would also decrease the chance of more powder coming down onto
the students of Grades 1 & 2 which are in blocks D & C.
