TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the
House to the State Control of the Douglas Shire Draft Planning Scheme.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to: support Desley Boyle
(Queensland Minister for Local Government and Planning, Environment, and
Women) on the following issues:

1. Support her intervention in the Planning Scheme on the basis of
effective and rational planning.

2. Calling on her to implement the Draft Planning Scheme as originally
presented to her, and approved the whole of government assessment process.

3. Calling on the State and Federal Governments to provide sufficient
funds to fairly compensate affected landowners north of the Alexander
Range.

4. Providing certainty to Douglas Shire Council’s ability to fulfil it’s
financial commitment to a sustainable Daintree through the Daintree River
Ferry fee, or resumption of control of the Cape Tribulation Road and
Daintree River Ferry by the Queensland State Government.
