TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of electors of the Division of Mulgrave, draws to the
attention of the House that the Township of Edmonton does not want
roosting flying fox colonies adjacent to the residential homes. These
bats are destroying our family lifestyle because of 1. Stench and
droppings. 2. They are a health hazard, both physically (virus) and
mentally (stress). 3. The noise levels are high and constant. In
addition our domestic fruit crops are continually destroyed and it is
difficult to sell a property adjacent to these colonies, which have
increased dramatically in the last 2 years.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to recognise the necessity
of residents to enjoy their outdoor living areas and direct Parks and
Wildlife staff to remove/relocate the flying foxes currently in residence
in Edmonton.
