The petition of electors of the Division of Charters Towers draws to the attention of the House that Eventide Aged Care Facility has provided a wonderful service to our frail and elderly citizens since it was built in 1929. Therefore the residents of Charters Towers vehemently oppose any plans or proposals to sell off or privatise this facility. Residents also object to off loading HACC services as this would be devastating to all employees and the 210 clients in our community who are attended to by this service.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to

• Continue to maintain the ownership of Eventide Aged Care Facility.
• Acknowledge part of this facility is vacant and can be used for the benefit of the community of Charters Towers particularly in the area of Dementia.
• Provide adequate funding and staffing levels to enable this facility to function at full capacity.
• Assure HACC services will not be off loaded.

Please note: It is the residents currently residing in Eventide Aged Care Facility who originally paid for and built this wonderful facility with their hard earned tax dollars.
