TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of road users of the Warrego Highway (between Macalister and Warra) draws to the attention of the House, the current condition of this road.
The petitioners therefore request the House to allocate funding for the immediate upgrade of the Warrego Highway between Macalister and Warra townships. It is our opinion that the current condition of this section of the highway has been a major contributor to fatal and near fatal accidents in recent times. The Warrego Highway being a major highway to western Queensland carries large volumes of cars and heavy transport on a daily basis, putting many lives at risk.
