TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that:
The Queensland Government has decreed a dam will be built on the Mary River. We strongly oppose this dam for social, environmental and economical reasons.
Your petitioners therefore request the House to: take all necessary action to protect the lives and homes of the people of the Mary Valley, who are threatened along with unique and endangered species of animals by the Queensland government’s proposal to build a dam on the Mary River at Traveston crossing
