TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

This Petition of Residents of the Douglas Shire in the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House to the very dangerous intersection of Port Douglas Road and the Captain Cook Highway, at the entrance to Port Douglas, Far North Qld. This busy corner, without a roundabout or signals and used by many interstate and international drivers, is extremely unsafe and the likelihood of a fatal accident here is very real.

Your Petitioners therefore request the House to refer to the Minister for Transport and Main Roads to lower the speed limit at the intersection of Port Douglas Road and the Captain Cook Highway to 60kph in both directions, and provide a one lane Roundabout at the intersection.
