The 57th Parliament of Queensland dissolved on 1 October 2024 (26 days before the election). This means we are in ‘caretaker’ mode. But what does this mean?
As an election may see a change in government, binding decisions are normally not made during this time. However, the Government continues to make day-to-day decisions.
The ‘caretaker’ period ends when either:
- the election result clearly shows the current Government is to be returned, or
- a new Government is sworn in by the Governor.
