About the Bill
On 26 November 2019, the Hon Yvette D’Ath MP, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice introduced the Associations Incorporation and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2019 into the Queensland Parliament. The Bill was referred to the Education, Employment and Small Business Committee for detailed consideration.

The explanatory notes state the purpose of the Bill is to:
- clarify the operation of the Associations Incorporation Act 1981
- improve the internal governance of incorporated associations
- reduce regulatory burden for incorporated associations and charitable entities, and
- streamline, enhance or otherwise improve government processes.
The Bill proposes amendments to the following legislation:
- Associations Incorporation Act 1981
- Collections Act 1966
- Fair Trading Inspectors Act 2014
- State Penalties Enforcement Regulation 2014 in relation to penalties under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981.

Public hearings
Committee hearings and briefings are generally open to the public and will be broadcast live on Parliament TV. Footage will be available to view for 12 months after its live broadcast. Transcripts of the proceedings will be published in due course.
