Hospital Foundations Bill 2017
On 22 August 2017, the Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services introduced the Hospital Foundation Bill 2017.
The Bill was referred to the Health, Communities, Disability Services and Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Committee for consideration.
The Bill
The explanatory notes state that the Bill has two policy objectives:
1. | To repeal the Hospitals Foundations Act 1982 and replace it with a more streamlined and contemporary legislative framework under which entities may support and improve the public health system in Queensland. This purpose is primarily achieved by providing for:

2. | To amend the Drugs Misuse Act 1986 to enable appropriate further development of the industrial cannabis industry, following a national decision to allow low-tetrahydrocannabinol hempseed and seed products to be sold as food. |
