In accordance with Standing Order 131 of the Standing Rules and Orders of the Legislative Assembly, the Bill was referred to the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee (the committee) for detailed consideration. The committee is required to report by Monday, 15 May 2017.

The Bill

According to the explanatory notes, the policy objectives of the Bill are to:

  • Widen the definition of ‘corrupt conduct’; and

  • Implement recommendations of the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee (PCCC) Report No. 97, Review of the Crime and Corruption Commission (Report No. 97) and Report No. 99, Report on a complaint by Mr Darren Hall (Report No. 99).
