In accordance with Standing Order 131 of the Standing Rules and Orders of the Legislative Assembly, the Bill was referred to the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee (the committee) for detailed consideration with a reporting date of Friday, 28 April 2017.

 

The Bill

The objectives of the Bill are to:

  • amend the Corrective Services Act 2006 to establish the Parole Board Queensland; and

  • to make technical and clarifying amendments to the Corrective Services Act to facilitate the electronic monitoring of persons released to parole; whether court ordered parole or board ordered parole.

The Bill delivers on key recommendations under the Queensland parole Board Review Report (the review report) in terms of parole board considerations.
