About the Bill
On 22 August 2018, the Hon Yvette D’Ath, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, introduced the Criminal Code (Non-consensual Sharing of Intimate Images) Amendment Bill 2018. The Legislative Assembly referred the Bill to the Legal Affairs and Community Safety Committee (the committee) for examination.
The objective of the Criminal Code (Non-consensual Sharing of Intimate Images) Amendment Bill 2018 is to create a new offence related to non-consensual sharing of intimate images that would apply to sending, or threatening to send, intimate material without consent.

The committee tabled its report on 5 October 2018. The Bill was passed on 13 February 2019.
