Report No. 50 – Investigation into Child Deaths and Injuries from Low Speed Vehicle Run-Overs, was tabled on 6 September 2007.
Terms of Reference
The committee investigated and reported on:
- the incidence of low-speed vehicular collisions with child pedestrians aged under five years in traffic and non-traffic areas in Queensland and resultant injuries that are sustained;
- the factors contributing to these collisions;
- counter measures that should be implemented to prevent or reduce the severity of injuries that are sustained, and
- the most appropriate agency or agencies to coordinate a public safety campaign about low speed roll-over injuries.
Public Forum on Driveway Run-over Deaths
The committee held a free public forum in the Parliamentary Annexe on Monday, 23 April 2007. Leading child safety and vehicle safety experts who have studied child run-over deaths presented at this forum. Some of these presentations are available through related publications.
