The Queensland Parliamentary Service Graduate Program offers a wide variety of professional work experiences all in one place.

We’re offering four graduates the opportunity to make a positive difference to parliamentary democracy in Queensland and build a rewarding career within an agile and diverse environment.

Our roles

The Queensland Parliamentary Service is offering four roles as part of our Graduate Program.

Our graduate program offers you:

  • a two-year placement with rotations across all four divisions of the Parliamentary Service
  • a bespoke program that matches projects with your areas of interest and growth 
  • total remuneration starting from $71,151 (plus super).
Throughout the program, you’ll rotate through the four divisions of the Parliamentary Service:
  • Assembly and Committee Services (Committee Office, Chamber and Education Services and Reporting/Hansard)
  • Information Services (Parliamentary Library, IT, Communications and Marketing)
  • Corporate Electorate Services (Human Resources, Financial and Administrative Services, Electorate Office Liaison)
  • Property and Facility Services (Catering, Security and Attendants, Electorate Accommodation, Precinct/Property Services).
These rotations will expose you to a wide variety of projects across all the functions of a working Westminster Parliament. 
 
In each rotation, your areas of interest and growth will be matched with specific projects to provide a program that’s unique to you.

Our Objectives

  1. To support the Legislative Assembly and its committees in fulfilling its functions within the institution of Parliament to:
    • Make law (and supervise delegated law-making)
    • Approve and scrutinise the State’s finances
    • Scrutinise the actions of the executive government (and oversight independent bodies)
    • Provide a forum for debate a grievance
  2. To support Members of Parliament to engage and represent their Electorates
  3. To provide information, corporate and facility management services
  4. To safeguard, promote and strengthen the important institution of Parliament

Requirements

To be eligible for the program you must:

  • have completed a bachelor’s degree or higher (including graduate certificate, master’s degree or PhD) in the last 2 years.
  • be an Australian citizen, or a resident of Australia and have permission, under Commonwealth law, to work in Australia.

All candidates will be required to complete employment screening and police checks prior to appointment.

There are four positions available. Two of these positions are for First Peoples graduates recognised in the community as having Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island heritage.

The Parliamentary Service provides advice and support to all Parliamentarians from across the political spectrum. We are politically neutral and professional.
 
You must be willing to certify that you have not, and will not during the course of your employment, engage in political activity which would:
  • jeopardise or diminish confidence in you by Members of Parliament; or
  • impede you from efficient and effective performance of your duties.
