Arrival information
Meeting point
All excursion programs start at the Parliamentary Annexe, located in Alice Street opposite William Street (not the George Street entry facing the Botanical Gardens).
Government-issued photo ID is required for all adults entering Parliament House or the Parliamentary Annexe —so please have this with you when you arrive. This is a precinct requirement, and you may be denied entry if you don’t bring ID with you.
If you arrive early, please let security know, but ensure your class remains outside—security staff will let us know you are here.
Getting here
Parliament House is located in the Brisbane CBD.
Public transport
Our closest public transport stops are:
- Train: Central or South Bank Station
- Bus: Charlotte Street Stop 52, near Edward St
- City Cat: QUT Gardens Point
For more information regarding public transport in Brisbane contact TransLink on 13 12 30 or visit Translink.
Car parking
There is no parking available on-site.
On-street paid parking is available in Alice Street (2 hour limit). Casual public parking is offered, subject to availability, at QUT Gardens Point campus, accessible via Gardens Point Road. There are numerous parking stations in Margaret, Mary and Charlotte Streets including City Council car parks.
There is a passenger set-down zone at the QUT turnaround, corner of George and Alice Streets.
Security
Everyone goes through security screening to enter the building. To make entry as easy as possible we recommend you:
- follow the instructions we give when we meet you,
- remove mobile phones from pockets,
- travel light,
- remove hats and sunglasses before entering the building, and
- leave prohibited items (such as scissors) at home.
If you or a student cannot go through a metal detector for medical reasons, please let us know when you arrive.
