GET READY for the BRISBANE NORTH YOUTH PARLIAMENT!
Schools from north of the Brisbane River are invited to nominate up to ten Year 5 or Year 6 students to participate in this Youth Parliament, which will be held on 5 June, 2025.
All primary schools in the following electorates are eligible to nominate:

The Youth Parliament is an exciting opportunity for students to debate a motion on a youth issue or speak in an adjournment debate about any issue falling within the jurisdiction of the Queensland Parliament.
The Youth Parliament is hosted by the Queensland Parliament and will be chaired by the Speaker, the Honourable Pat Weir MP, along with local Members of Parliament.

COMMON QUESTIONS:
How many students can schools nominate?
Schools are invited to nominate up to a maximum of ten students from Year 5 and 6. The number of student participants allocated per school will depend on the number of schools that nominate for the Youth Parliament.
What is the commitment for teachers and students?
Teacher Briefing
An initial briefing session for teachers will be held via Microsoft Teams video conference. Teachers are to attend one session on either of two available dates:
- 3.30pm - 4.15pm on (Date TBA), OR
- 7.30am - 8.15am on (Date TBA)
Teachers from schools participating in the Youth Parliament are required to participate in one of the briefings to receive details of the program and other operational and administrative matters.
Preparation
- Students will need to prepare a one-minute speech to present on the day.
Student Briefing
- Teachers and students should arrive on the day of the Youth Parliament by 9.00am to be ready for the start of the 9.30am final briefing.
