Legal Studies Youth Parliament
About the event
The 2025 Legal Studies Youth Parliament will be held on Friday 23 May 2025, Parliament House (Brisbane).
The Youth Parliament, hosted by the Queensland Parliament and chaired by the Speaker, the Honourable Patrick (Pat) Weir MP, provides Year 11 and 12 students currently studying Legal Studies with the opportunity to experience Queensland's legislative process first-hand.
Students allocated a speaking role will either:
- debate a mock bill, or
- speak in an adjournment debate or provide a private members' statement about any issue falling within the jurisdiction of the Queensland Parliament.
Some students will be allocated a non-speaking or scripted role.
What's involved?
We recommend you view our Youth Parliament webpage to find our more about the roles and responsibilities of students and teachers taking part in the program.
How to nominate your students
Queensland schools are invited to nominate up to a maximum of 4 students who are:
- in Year 11 or Year 12, and
- currently studying Legal Studies.
The number of student participants allocated per school will depend on the number of schools that nominate to take part.
Nominations open via Humanitix on Monday 3 February, 8am AEST and close on Monday 24 February, 8am AEST (unless sold out prior).
